'Look Up'
Interactive Installation

Look Up was an interactive installation about cell phone use.

It encouraged viewers to be aware of their screen time, and to spend more time engaging with their surrounding, put down the screen, and to 'Look Up'.

Viewers were asked to look at their average screen time for that week, select a rock from the nature-scape, and place it in the appropriate jar.

The individual could then pick a seed-paper card with a suggestion for a new way to get outside or engage with their community.

The centerpiece was an 11.5 foot framed digital collage that extended onto the ceiling. The photo-text adhesive paper was attached to foam-core and nailed onto the wall and ceiling. The artwork was surrounded by a hand-built wood-stained crown moulding frame. The extension onto the ceiling encouraged viewers to 'look up', while the dark-green color blocking accentuated this experience.

The instructions were made of black viynl and explained how viewers could contribute to the screen-time survey, and select a seed-paper suggestion card.

The nature-scape was built from acrylic to fit perfectly into the vintage coffee table and hide a speaker playing nature sounds.
